The ALC courses are designed for those who wish to work in the legal profession as a law clerk.

The founder and course director of ALC has worked as a law clerk for over ten years, first as an outdoor clerk, then as a solicitor's clerk with his own caseload in immigration and criminal work.

He has also worked as a senior barristers' clerk and has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, which informs the courses.

  • Practical, relevant and easy to follow.
  • Improve your prospects in looking for practical experience to promote your goal of becoming a solicitor or barrister.

What is a Law Clerk?

Law clerks assist solicitors and barristers in the performance of their professional duties, in a variety of ways.

Outdoor clerks work for solicitors, carrying out a range of duties away from the solicitor's office, such as assisting counsel at court as a solicitor's representative, attending at a case conference with client and counsel, and filing documents at court.

Experienced solicitors' clerks may be given work in the solicitor's office managing their own caseload of files in criminal, immigration, family or a variety of civil matters.

Barristers' clerks manage counsel's practice; produce fees notes, and liase with the instructing solicitor.
